After gaining a First in Forensic Science and Applied Criminology, Harriet returned home to Knutsford to decide what to do next. When she and her mum, Sue, found out that the café they had both occasionally worked in over the years had come on the market, they recklessly decided to take the plunge and embark on a joint venture -neither of them had any experience running a business! Harriet had never baked or cooked professionally – she’d just baked at home with her Gran and Aunty. She did a two day course at the Raymond Blanc School of Cookery in Oxfordshire, and discovered a passion for baking and patisserie. She has learnt most of her skills on the job and has trained the team to follow her collection of recipes. The Tea Room has thrived and has now been trading for nearly six years. The cake display has grown and grown, now hosting 18 different cakes and bakes (including dairy and gluten free) made onsite daily.
