Kevin Bonello is Executive Head Chef at The Grand, York, where he oversees the culinary direction of both fine dining restaurant, Legacy, and The Rise. With more than two decades of experience, Bonello brings a bold and refined approach shaped by an international career at the highest level.
Prior to joining The Grand, he spent 21 years with the Xara Collection in Malta, serving as Culinary Director and playing a key role in establishing the group as a leading hospitality brand. During his tenure, he and his team earned a Michelin star at De Mondion, one of only a handful awarded in Malta.
Describing his style as “stubborn, bold and precise,” Bonello’s cooking is influenced by his Maltese heritage and the island’s rich culinary history, blending Sicilian, Arabic, French and Spanish flavours. His work is further shaped by early experience in the kitchens of Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White, as well as his extensive travels.
